The Story of
Worship Awake

Worship Awake, a Non Profit Organization, is a collaborative movement made up of pastors and worship leaders from across the nations from different denominations and ministries with a heart for worship and worshippers in our nation.

Worship Awake was born in 2020 when Stella felt God leading her to call worshippers to worship during the lockdown.
What was meant to be a two-week online event called “Worship South Africa!” became the beginning of a movement. Since then, we have simply followed His lead—hosting online worship sessions, taking worship to the streets, and later focusing on worship songwriting retreats in different parts of the country. The unfolding journey has been truly exciting!

God has brought together wonderful, Spirit-filled, and talented people who give their time, expertise, and whole hearts to serve the mission. We believe our call is to help restore, realign, and awaken the hearts of worshippers in South Africa to our God-given mandate to worship.

Just as a healthy heart pumps life-giving blood to the body and keeps it strong, we believe worship is at the heart of God’s Body—the Church—bringing renewal and unity.

In everything we do—whether songwriting retreats, worship events, online equipping sessions or releasing new music—we carry this mission in our hearts.

What Is Worship SPEC?

The vision of Worship SPEC is to build and harbour a safe, authentic and supportive online community for worship leaders/musicians/creatives where we can be equipped for the task at hand. We gather online once a month and if you are a creative and feel called for ministry, this space is for YOU!

OUR MUSIC

We write and release music because God is faithful- and His faithfulness must be sung. Every song carries our testimony, restoring what has grown weary, realigning hearts with truth and awakening fresh vision of who He is. Our prayer is that as you listen, your eyes are lifted to Jesus and you encounter Him.

We’re a passionate collective of worshippers who each serve in various churches and ministries across South Africa. Some lead their own ministries, while others serve in leadership teams—but what unites us is a shared love for Jesus, a deep commitment to true worship, and a heart for worshippers in our nation. It’s a gift to walk together and an honour to serve together in what God is doing through Worship Awake.
